All accounts of the Jethwas genealogy differ greatly and variously. Colonel Watson records that in one account, 1048 regular descents are shown, and in another, 178! So many additions have apparently been made by Bards that it is impossible to determine what is genuine and what is not. The son of Hanuman, Makardhwaja, is supposed to have been the first Jethwa, and the tribe probably entered Saurashtra about the year A.D. 1000. The relationship from Rana to Rana cannot be ascertained, and so it is impossible to construct a “tree” until after the beginning of the sixteenth century.
